About Australian Sandalwood Oil

Australian Sandalwood Oil

Soft and woody. Superior aroma to the standard Australian Sandalwood Oil as the oil has been steam distilled from higher grade wood and contains a significantly higher level of alpha santalol.

Therapeutic Properties:

Research has shown WA Sandalwood to be effective against the following microbes: Staphylococcus epidermis, S. aureus, MRSA, S. sapropyticus, S. pyogenes, S dysgalaciae, Pneumococcal, Arcanobacterium haemolyticum, Legionella preumophilia, Propionibacterium acnes, Acinetobater calcoaceticus, Candida albicans and Saccahromyces cerevisiae.

Research by Sydney University has shown that WA Sandalwood has anti-inflammatory properties, in-line with the traditional use of Sandalwood. The anti-inflammatory properties have normally been attributed to its content of alpha-bisabolol. S spicatum normally contains 5-10% of alpha-bisabolol. S. spicatum also contains beta-santalene (generally less than 1%), another component that has demonstrated anti-inflammatory properties.

Potential Uses:

Australian Sandalwood Oil is a renewable and sustainable resource. The Western Australian government has been extremely thorough in its research of the renewability of the Santalum spicatum tree and it has implemented an extensive sustainability program. This program has been awarded with international certification which is audited on an annual basis. A great deal of information is available on this program; please let me know if I can supply you with additional information.

Furthemore, an Aboriginal Community is supported by the purchase of this oil. The distiller pays a premium price for this superior wood in addition to an ‘Oil Bonus’. The payments enable an equitable sharing in the benefits of this high grade wood in addition to promoting the existence of a significant and much needed local industry and boost to the inflow of funds to the Aboriginal community.
